Work Experience Practice Placement Provider (FLORISTRY)

Summary

At Strength & Stem we want to see female survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking restored from their trauma, empowered for the future, and able to sustain a good quality of life.

We achieve our vision by offering tailored skills training (including vocational floristry, prevocational and wellbeing skills training), work experience, mentorship, and a supportive community. Our evidence-based, holistic programme is designed to help prepare survivors for future security, develop their agency, and increase their sense of wellbeing and community. Work experience placements are an essential part of achieving these outcomes.

We are looking for florists and floristry businesses to host our participants for a period of work experience, offering them a gentle and supportive environment in which to put their skills into practice and gain invaluable, real-world work experience.

By the time they reach work experience, our participants have already completed basic floristry and prevocational skills training, so they arrive ready to learn and contribute.

If you run a floristry business and have the space and capacity to welcome a participant (or more) into your day-to-day work, we would love for you to apply.

A gentle and supportive environment

Opportunities for participant(s) to gain experience in a wide variety of hands-on floristry practice

12 days of placement, over a 6-week period (2 days a week), with a start date any time between 3 August – 2 November 2026.

Flexible options: If our ideal model doesn't suit you, we're happy to adapt to an arrangement that is a better fit for you

This is a voluntary (unpaid) placement.

The main point of contact will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (cost covered by us) and attend a 30-minute online safeguarding training session

A short site visit and risk assessment by one of our team members will need to be completed before the placement begins

  • Host a floristry workshop

    Do you have floristry skills to share? We welcome volunteers to run short, beginner-friendly workshops for our Alumni community. These sessions are relaxed, creative, and designed to help Alumni reconnect and build confidence. 

    We handle planning, organise the location (or you can use your own venue if preferred), and provide all materials. The Strength & Stem team is there to support you on the day 

  • Lead a skills workshop

    Our programme includes workshops focused on wellbeing, agency, relationships and future security. We welcome volunteers to get creative and think about how their expertise could support women in any of these areas. 

    Whether it’s practical skills, personal development tips, or professional know-how, your knowledge could make a real impact. Past workshops have included self-care, self-compassion, time management, communication, and an introduction to the UK job market. 

    Workshops can be a single morning or afternoon session, so no long-term commitment is needed. If you have the knowledge but aren’t sure how to turn it into a workshop, our team can help with planning and facilitation

  • Provide work experience

    As part of our programme, each participant completes up to 12 days of voluntary work experience with florists or flower farmers in London. Even if you can only host a few days, your support makes a real difference — helping participants put their skills into practice in a real-world setting. 

    We provide full training and support, so you can focus on sharing your expertise and welcoming our participants.

  • Share your skills

    Have another way to help? 

    If you have expertise in social media, videography, corporate outreach, or anything else that could support our mission, we’d love to hear from you.

    You can contribute in a way that fits your skills and availability. 

  • Become a mentor

    Mentoring is a key part of our programmes. Mentors guide participants through self-development, employment, and training goals over six months, following the successful completion of our vocational floristry and prevocational skills sessions. 

    We provide a structured programme to support both mentor and mentee. Mentors must be female and have employment or business experience, including goal setting, navigating the UK job market, completing applications, and preparing for interviews.
